The national launch of UNICEF's flagship publication “The State of the World’s Children 2009”, focussing on Maternal and Newborn health, took place on Thursday March 5.

The launch took the form of a televised discussion held at the Lao Women’s Union as part of celebrations marking International Women’s Day.

The facilitator of the discussion was the Vice President of the LWU, H.E. Mrs Bandith Pathoumvanh. An edited version of the event will be broadcast on Lao Star Television.
