At the start of her 9-day tour of Lao PDR, Midori, and her team of three musicians visited UN House.

Midori is in the country with her NGO, Music Sharing, who strongly believe that the firsthand experience of music of the highest caliber gives children an enhanced sense of aesthetics and culture, awareness of their own creative powers and of their environment.

Through the International Community Engagement Program (ICEP), Midori and her team will be giving performances and lectures to children and youth in schools, orphanages and hospitals in Vientiane, Luang Prabang and Borikhamxai. 

In September 2007 Midori was designated a United Nations Messenger of Peace by UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon.
